What a great Monday! I couldn't help but smile as I walked across campus. I even said hey to a couple random people, which was well received... I think its safe to say I had a positive impact on their days. Even if they were having an alright day I'm fully confident that I made it that much better. If I had a facebook I might have some new friend requests.
So this summer I was in-charge of the "Indepen-DANCE" at Kiawah... It was a great success. Everyone was dancing having a great time. I was on the mic spittin the ones and twos... At the end of the night we had a Kiawah Island Teen King and Queen. We had everyone circle up about 100 teens and then me and Kim Evans announced the King and Queen. As I crowned the king I told him "Congratulations, you'll remember this night for the rest of your life." Then I thought it would be a good idea to have the king and queen have a first dance. GREAT idea on my part, unfortunately the only slow song on my boss' ipod was "I'll make love to you" by Boys II Men. I was stalling as hard as I could but the teens were becoming unruly, so I did what anyone would do in my situation and played the song. Have a listen. In the middle of the song both my supervisors walked down and just shook their heads, they thought it was funny... I thought it was hilarious. And it didn't seem to phase the teens.
On top of the Boys II Men incident. When we were trying to get everyone to leave I got on the mic and said "Get your digits and get out" as I said it everyone stopped and stared at me. Apparently it sounded like I said "Grab your B****es and get out." haha welp thats it.
One more thing...
We had Real Life club tonight for YoungLife where Bill, Brent, Emily, and Lauren talked about how Christ has transformed their lives from when they were in high school until now. It was awesome to see the high school students really listening and taking in what the leaders were saying; and them being able to see even us as leaders don't have it all together; that we have struggles and have been in a lot of the same positions they are in now. I trust that the Lord spoke through what was said tonight at club, and am grateful for the position he has put me in to be able to speak truth and shine light into my high school friends lives.
ON TO TUESDAY!
